Escape speed online calculator

Velocity of Escape: An object is projected vertically upwards on the surface of the planet. If the initial velocity is less than a certain value, the object will only rise for a distance, and then the acceleration caused by the gravity of the planet will eventually fall. If the initial velocity reaches a certain value, the object will completely escape the gravitational pull of the planet and fly out of the planet. The speed at which the object needs to escape the gravitational pull of the planet is called the escape velocity. The object on the surface of the celestial body gets rid of the minimum speed required for the gravitational bound of the celestial body to fly to the space. For example, the Earth's escape velocity is 11.2 km / sec (that is, the second cosmic speed).

Escape speed

Escape speed: Ve2=2GM / R

Here:

G = universal gravitational constant = 6.6726 x 10-11N-m2/kg2

M = planet mass

R = planet radius
